Why Do Cocktails Make A Great Wedding Reception?
Cocktails remain as popular today as they always have been - if not more so.
If cocktails are your thing, then there are plenty of ways in which you can incorporate them into your wedding reception - the first being to do away with the formal sit down meal and to host a cocktail party instead.
Choosing to turn your wedding reception into a cocktail party has a number of benefits - including the fact that you can save yourselves a great deal of money.
Serve hors d'oeuvres instead of a sit down meal and you'll save on catering, but you may also be able to reduce the cost of tables and chairs, centrepieces and more.
You'll also have a more informal and relaxed atmosphere than a traditional wedding reception, and may even be able to use locations that would not be available for a sit down meal.
That idea may be too much for some, but there are still plenty of ways to enjoy a cocktail or two as part of your wedding theme.
Most couples choose to use champagne or sparkling wine for the arrival drink and the toasts, but who says you need to stick with tradition? Consider the hire of a mobile bar service which can serve cocktails to your guests as they arrive - it's something a little different, and something that's easily personalised.
You could choose to create cocktails that match the colour scheme of your wedding, using raspberry or grenadine for a pink colour scheme, or cloudy lemonade if you're choosing yellow. With so many ingredients available to any mixologist, it's easy to come up with something that matches your theme.

Cocktails can also be used to personalise your wedding even more, and to add an element that says something about the personalities of you and your partner. In addition to the regular cocktail list, speak to your mixologist before the wedding about signature wedding cocktails, and make sure that guests know the stories behind them.
If you met over a cocktail, it's easy to choose a signature mix - but if not, there's still plenty you can do.
Choose ingredients that mean something to you both, opt for locally sourced ingredients if you're passionate about reducing your carbon footprint, or if you're not feeling that creative, simply come up with names that represent you, your partner and your happy day.
Whether it's simply creating a signature cocktail or planning your whole reception around a cocktail theme, there are plenty of reasons why a well-made mixed drink can help you to create the wedding you want.
